A legacy of luxury

Over 15 years, Park Hyatt Goa Resort & Spa has gone from being noted as the first Park Hyatt in India to the hotel most loved for its true Goan hospitality

You’d be mistaken for believing you were in Mediterranean Portugal, what with the languid lanes, European-influenced architecture and a refreshing network of Venice-like canals meandering through the property. Over its 15 years here, Park Hyatt Goa Resort & Spa has surpassed expectations, moulding seamlessly into local Goan life while emerging as the state’s superlative luxury property that never fails to satisfy.
Its location is in Cansaulim. Perhaps the stretch would have been more apt to have been called ‘Paradise’, for here, there is nothing to stop you from believing you were in the Caribbean. Sitting at the Park Hyatt Goa’s Palms restaurant, swaying coconut trees frame picture-perfect visions of virginal white sand, a dark-hulled wooden canoe resting languidly on its outrigger, and blue seas reflecting spotless skies. For 15 years, nothing has changed about this scene or the philosophy that Park Hyatt Resort & Spa has followed, but a lot has about the manner of hospitality we’ve come to expect in Goa thanks to it.

On an undulating terrain of sand dunes and mud, Spain’s famous resort architect Simeon Halstead worked together with landscape architect Peter Imrik of Napa, California, to bring to life a luxury version of a quiet Goan village. Clustered in five ‘courts’, pousadas or country villas create a community feel, connected by a criss-cross of winding lanes and bridges that flow over clear canals, some bursting with flowers.

Over 45 acres, Park Hyatt Goa Resort & Spa encompasses everything you’d need for a complete vacation right there in one place – luxury accommodation, spacious pools, unending lawns, event zones, restaurants that merge into food courts, wellness and meditation areas, activities for children and even a cinema.

On its 15th anniversary, the resort, led by general manager Shobhit Sawhney, is reveling in the philosophy that makes Park Hyatt Goa what it is – “We care for people so they can do their best”. It’s a credo that shines through the warmth of its staff and the care that’s taken to ensure you have a great time, no matter the circumstance. Park Hyatt Goa deserves a celebration, and in tune with its guiding principle, is sharing this with its guests.
