New book on nutrition focuses on local Goan produce

NutriTalk, a book on what to eat in the Goan context by noted nutritionist, author and columnist Rohini Diniz was released by professor and head of department of biotechnology at Goa University Dr Savita Kerkar, publisher Sapna Sardessai, and guest of honour Allen Diniz at Institute Menezes Braganza, in Panaji, recently.

The author, a practicing nutritionist with her clinic in Panaji, said that food and nutrition are an integral part of our lives and have a direct bearing on our health, and added that there is a dearth of good books on nutrition for the layperson with an emphasis on local Goan produce. She has attempted to fill this void with NutriTalk. This is her third book on nutrition. 
Chief guest Dr Savita Kerkar gave the audience food for thought with her insights. She said that it is for nutritionists to say what we need to eat and not eat, and not politicians. She infused humour into her speech by saying that in an effort to curb beef steaks, our freedom to choose what we eat was at stake today. She lauded Diniz for her efforts in educating people on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
John D’Souza from the hospitality industry shared his experiences as one of Diniz’s patients.  
Sapna Sardessai of publishing house Printer’s Devil said that “NutriTalk provides sound, scientific knowledge on diet, nutrition and health in a simple, reader-friendly manner.”
