No matter the controversies or shade life has thrown him, Sanjay Dutt always finds his way back to his fans’ hearts. The Hindi film actor, who has seen one of the most tumultuous celebrity lives in India, has shot to the spotlight once more thanks to Sanju, the only biopic on a living Bollywood star. As he celebrates his 59th birthday, Sanjay Dutt opens up in an exclusive interview about the film and his life in Tinsel Town

If his life were a graph, it would display peaks and troughs that would make any analyst shudder with fright. Sanjay Dutt has braved the highs and lows of life in the spotlight to emerge more composed each time. 


Despite his bad boy image, Dutt seems to take his past trajectory in his stride, acknowledging slip ups and being hopeful for the future. One thing that remains constant is his passion for films and his drive to carry on a successful career.


As the son of accomplished actors – Sunil Dutt and Nargis, he grew up surrounded by the push and pull of glamour and dark underside of fame. From his first film Rocky in 1981, Dutt has been delivering hit after hit, most acclaimed in his roles as gangsters, thugs and police officers in genres ranging from drama to comedy and action.


He has been noted for his performances in box office successes including Vaastav: The Reality, Mission Kashmir, Munnabhai MBBS, and Lage Raho Munnabhai. In his 40-year career, he has won two Filmfare Awards, two International Indian Film Academy Awards, two Bollywood Movie Awards, three Screen Awards, three Stardust Awards, two Zee Cine Awards and a Global Indian Film Award. 


His chequered life has become a sort of inspiration, a rising from the ashes if you will, for each time he has been pockmarked by a controversy, he has turned over and given his fans reason to shout his praises.
