Nigeria naval chief visits GSL

Chief of Nigeria’s Navy admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas recently visited Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL), and held discussions with GSL’s chairman and managing director admiral Shekhar Mital on various issues of cooperation.

Admiral Ekwe Ibas was shown ongoing shipbuilding activities and modernisation of the yard. He took keen interest in the construction of coast guard offshore patrol vessels and was impressed with the shipyard’s infrastructure and the excellent quality of workmanship.

A presentation was shown to him on in-house design capability, product profile and future potential of cooperation. The admiral was briefed on GSL’s offer for two landing ship tanks, for which it is under consideration for award of order under global tender. Detailed discussions were also held on other projects where the two organisations can work together.  

The admiral appreciated GSL for its outstanding execution track record of delivering 24 projects, all ahead of schedule in the last four years and the technological innovations on the ships under construction. He appreciated GSL’s design capabilities and expressed a keen interest in enhancing interaction going forward.
