Cashing in on the Skill India movement, Sui Dhaaga – top Bollywood actress ANUSHKA SHARMA’s latest movie – is running riot in cinemas, praised for its vibe of hope and positivity. Key to its success is a strong performance in a surprising role by Anushka, whose husband cricketer Virat Kohli is co-owner of Goa’s top football club FC Goa. The actress opens up about her latest film and life in the spotlight

Championing the cause of local products with a strong focus on India’s vast textile industry, Sui Dhaaga discusses the potential of small-time entrepreneurs in an inspiring family entertainer. But behind this, is a big-time name.

Anushka Sharma is currently one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, doubling her fan base as one half of India’s favourite power couple. Her grand wedding to Virat Kohli, Indian cricket captain and co-owner of football club FC Goa, made waves in the media. She has been appreciated for her talent since her first break in the industry on Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi with Shah Rukh Khan 10 years ago.

She has since won awards for films including Band, Baja, Bharaat; Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl; Jab Tak Hain Jaan; Sultan and Pari. Packed into her already busy schedule are responsibilities as brand ambassador for a variety of products as well as Nush, her own line of clothing directed specifically at women. In addition, she is the co-founder of production company Clean Slate Films, and supports a number of charities and causes that fight for gender equality and animal rights.

Most recently, however, she’s been in the news over a spate of hilarious memes on her new film which sent Twitter in a tizzy. But Anushka remains non-plussed. In her role as a small town tailor’s wife, she effortlessly transcends the divide between conventional rural woman and unconventional emotionally strong achiever.
