Taxi registrations spike at Goamiles

Since its launch in August, Goa’s first mobile app-based taxi service GoaMiles has registered a spike in taxi registrations with the fleet and increasing demand.

Managing director of Goamiles managing company Frotamiles Utkarsh Dabade said, “Last month, 300 more taxis were added to the fleet and the company plans to take the number to 400 taxis this month. Most of the vehicles registered with Goamiles make around 8-11 trips per day on a regular basis. The average daily calls for taxis  has increased by 30 per cent from the earlier 1,200 calls per day. The total number of soft trips has a share of around 24 per cent in the overall trips with Goamiles.”

The app allows users to book, monitor and pay for taxi services, track the location of the ride in real time and view past and current bookings. Emphasis has been given on safety as driver and vehicle details are shared with passengers before the ride. There is also an in-built panic button to ensure safety of the passengers. There is an equal distribution of business among Goan drivers.

Dabade added, “Goamiles will soon open counters at three railway stations: Margao, Vasco and Karmali. Another new initiative is the integration of other tourism services in Goa to have a single umbrella benefit to all tourists.”

Additionally, Goamiles has designed special packages for international tourists. The company has successfully handled its first cruise which arrived in Goa last month.

GOAMILES app can be downloaded from Google Play Store and Apple Store.
