Beaten rice flakes (poha) 5 cups(500gms)

Cumin seeds                         1 tablespoon

Mustard seeds                 1 tablespoon

Turmeric powder                 ¼ teaspoon

Chilli powder                         ¼ teaspoon

Coriander powder                 ½ teaspoon

Chopped green chillies                         2

Chopped garlic                        8 cloves

Curry leaves                                         20

Dry coconut slices                            ¼ cup

Roasted gram dal                            ½ cup

Roasted cashewnuts                    ½ cup

Roasted groundnuts                    ½ cup

Raisins                                            ½ cup

Salt to taste


1Roast rice flakes in a pan until crisp.

2Heat oil in a pan, add cumin and mustard seeds. When seeds splutter, add turmeric, green chillies, garlic and curry leaves. Stir fry for two minutes.

3Add roasted rice flakes, coconut slices, groundnuts, gram dal, cashewnuts, chilli and coriander powders, raisins and salt and keep stirring continually until all the ingredients mix well.

4Remove from heat and allow to cool. Store it in an airtight containers and serve as and when required.
