UK delegation explores trade ties in medical tourism with Manipal Hospital

Manipal Hospital, Goa, which is now focused on medical tourism, hosted a 25-member UK delegation from the British Ministry of Health led by Permanent Secretary, Department of Health UK Una O’Brien.

The UK delegation was welcomed by the Manipal Hospitals Goa team led by G Karthihaivelan, Unit Head – Manipal Hospitals Goa. The delegation visited the hospital to explore areas of cooperation for mutual benefit. Their tour looked at the possibilities of shifting British patients to Manipal Hospitals Goa, sharing of technical expertise, and understanding clinical protocols in Manipal Hospitals Goa compared with those in the UK. The delegation was impressed with the clinical expertise, protocol and procedures adopted by Manipal 
Hospitals Goa. 
They also looked at possibilities of partnering with Manipal Hospitals Goa in the field of medical tourism, trade and research in the medical field.

Manipal Hospital Enterprises, which opened its high-tech multi-specialty facility in Dona Paula in January this year, offers a complete range of preventive, curative and rehabilitative care. Manipal Hospitals Goa now houses all key specialties including cardiology, cardio-thoracic surgery, neurology, neuro surgery, orthopaedics (joints replacements / trauma care /arthroscopy), oncology (medical, surgical and radiation), urology, nephrology, paediatrics (including neo-natology), obstetrics and gynaecology, infertility and reproductive medicine. 

The hospital has six state-of-the-art operation theatres, 32 high-end medical and surgical ICU beds, the latest equipment including an MRI and CT state-of-the-art catheterisation laboratory and a superior emergency and casualty centre.
