Goa’s first and only online supermarket set to expand

Shopping in Goa got a digital makeover when UrbanRation.com, Goa’s first online supermarket, went live on October 1 last year. Over the 10 months since its launch, it has expanded its reach to consumers from Panaji, Porvorim, Dona Paula, Miramar, Caranzalem,Taleigao, Santa Cruz, Bambolim, Merces, Ribandar, Porvorim, Sangolda, Parra, Nerul and Pilerne with plans to soon start operations in the beach belt of North Goa.

Manager of Sales & Logistics Kalandar Syed said, “Urban Ration was set up to provide convenience to Goan shoppers. It is safe to say that we have achieved that with over 850 customers who have trusted us with their shopping needs. Anyone in the areas where we deliver can log on to our website and shop at any hour of the day. There are multiple advantages of going online, which are the cornerstone to the convenience at offer. We currently have more than 3,000 products, and look forward to expanding that range as soon as the rate of adoption increases.“

Urbanration has partnered with local wholesale vendors to procure fresh vegetables, fruits and chicken products which are hand-picked and checked for quality before being delivered to customers the same day. If a customer is not happy with a product, it is replaced or their money is refunded immediately. There are various payment options: cash on delivery, credit, debit cards, and net-banking. The portal currently offers
same-day delivery options provided in two batches.

UrbanRation.com currently has 20 categories of products that range from staples such as grocery, fruits and vegetables, dairy, poultry, etc. to nuanced tastes like imported foods, smoker’s corner, pet care and others.
