Marathi book ‘Manas Kashi? Hi Ashi...’ by Dr Narayan Sinai Dumo released

A Marathi book, “Manas Kashi? Hi Ashi...”, which means “What kind of people are they? They are such as these...” written by Dr Narayan Sinai Dumo was released by educationist Prof M S Kamat, eminent freedom fighter Prabhakar Sinari, Editor of Navprabha Paresh Prabhu and Dr Dumo at a function held at Panaji recently.

The Chief Guest Prof M S Kamat said, “I congratulate Dr Dumo who just turned 75. I realise that he has lived his life well because he has lived it purposefully. For him, guiding young people in search of an appropriate profession and vocation was a lifetime mission. This book is an epitome of oral history. Dr Dumo has written this book on the narrative of his three close friends, the late Shyam Sinari, late Dr Manuel Fernandes and late Pundalik Shyam Naik who all took direct part in Goa’s freedom struggle.”

Freedom fighter Prabhakar Sinari said, “The writer has done a favour for freedom fighters, especially from Goa by recording the genuine struggles and sacrifices with facts and figures. This book will bring to life the freedom struggle for the benefit of the new generation who sometimes feel that freedom fighters only joined the movement to claim pension.
Editor of Navprabha Paresh Prabhu said, “This is a fitting example that age should never be deterrent to doing something in life, including turning into an author.”

Speaking at the release, author Dr Dumo said, “This book is my interpretation of the lives of some eminent people who left a mark on Goan society through the unique role they played in the freedom movement.”
Prof Prajal Sakhardande, who hosted the function, hoped that an English edition of this book would also published soon especially for the benefit of the new generation.
