International Customs Day celebrated

The Commissionerate of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax Goa recently commemorated International Customs Day at the office in Mormugao Harbour. The theme this year was ‘Coordinated border management – an inclusive approach for connecting stakeholders’. Chief guest vice chancellor of Goa University Dr Satish Shetye said “The customs department should be equipped to meet all the challenges from within and outside the country.” He also stressed on creating 10 million jobs for youth to meet the challenges of unemployment.

Commissioner of Customs A Anpazhakan said, “Customs is an important arm that helps enhance national security. India is a vast country with a long coastline and the customs protect about 200 nautical miles of exclusive economic zone.” Assistant commissioner Francis Rodrigues gave a talk while joint commissioner G B Santimano proposed the vote of thanks.
