Power Engineering India Pvt Ltd, a Pai Kane Group Company, headquartered in Tuem, Pernem was awarded its second successive Engineering Export Promotion Council Award for Export Excellence as Star Performer – electric motors, generators and transformers.

The award was given by union minister of state (independent charge) for Power & Coal Piyush Goyal and was received by directors Gauripriya Pai Kane and Atul Pai Kane.

Power Engineering was established in 1989 in a garage in Mapusa and moved to the Tuem Industrial Estate in 1995. Till 2008, the company continued to build generator sets and switchboards for the local market with domestic engines. 

It has been an ISO 9000, 14000 and 18000 company since 2006. In 2008, it diversified its marketing strategy to include exports with a plan to appoint 100 dealers across the globe. Currently, the Pai Kane Group has a modern, comprehensive production facility spanning an extensive 400,000 sq ft, with manpower of more than 400 personnel capable of rolling out high quality generator sets using state-of-the-art machinery. 

The company makes components required for generator sets, barring the engines and alternators. It can manufacture 15000-plus generator sets per year at its modern sheet metal facility and high quality panel building facility. The Pai Kane service team handles more than 3500 generator sets per annum on annual maintenance contracts and service on a pan-India basis for about 20 corporate groups. 

The group has four offices in India, a warehouse and sales office in UAE and a manufacturing facility in the UK. The company has accreditation from Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) for its switchboards for 100 KA/ 6300 A and is one of the few to have such facilities. 

In the last 12 months, Power Engineering has completed prestigious projects for the US Army – Qatar, NamPower – Namibia, AMAS STP – Bahrain, Dangote Fertilisers – Nigeria, Formula 1 – Singapore, and Myanmar Telecom among others.
