Mahatma Gandhi is an inspiration to many. His teachings and principles have had a significant influence on several lives, including that of Shane Savio Fernandes.

The Class X student of Lourdes Convent High School in Saligao, was recently felicitated by prime minister Narendra Modi for his letter to Bapu chosen from among a sea of letters from school students across India. Shane was chosen in the Class VI to XII category. The competition was organised as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development in line with the ‘Swachhata hi Seva’ campaign. Shane opens up to VIVA GOA about the Mahatma Gandhi’s influence on his life and the recent award.
