Green Chutney Prawns

Ingredients for Green Chutney

Coriander leaves 1½ cup (60 grams)

Mint leaves (pudina) ½ cup (20 grams)

Green chillies 3 nos.

Peeled ginger 2 inch

Peeled garlic cloves 5 nos. 

Cinnamon stick 1 inch 

Black pepper corn 12 nos 

Cloves 12 nos 

Cumin seeds ¼ teaspoon

Lime juice ½ teaspoon  

Sugar ¼ teaspoon

Method

1 Make a fine paste of all the ingredients by adding two tablespoons of water. Set aside. 

Ingredients for Green Chutney Prawns

Prawns 500 grams 

Green chutney   ½ cup

Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon 

Beaten Egg ½ no

Coarse rice flour 2 tablespoon 

Corn flour 1 tablespoon 

Refined flour 1 tablespoon 

Salt to taste 

Oil for deep frying 


Method

2 Deshell and devein prawns while keeping the tail intact. Wash and marinate with turmeric powder and salt to taste for 10 minutes.

3 In a bowl, combine green chutney, corn flour, rice flour, refined flour, beaten egg, and salt to taste. Mix well. 

4 Dip prawns in the green chutney batter to coat on all the sides. Refrigerate for 15 minutes. 

5 Heat oil in a deep pan and deep-fry the prawns in batches of 10 to 12 on a high flame for 2 to 3 minutes, tossing occasionally.

6 Serve hot.
