Milroc’s Kadamba is harvesting rain and recycling grey water for household use, a unique practice for housing societies

Goa is blessed with high rainfall every year and is lush with a good source of fresh water from perennial springs, wells and lakes that abound in its pristine landscape. In recent years, there have been reports that many places, in particular Panaji and other towns, have been experiencing water shortages despite the high rainfall. What could be the reasons for this? 

With urbanisation, the demand for piped water has greatly increased, with gated communities mushrooming everywhere and water supply in limited quantity. The dependence on tankers supplying water from fresh water wells has correspondingly increased. With increasing pollution of ground water due to seepage of grey water and sewage in areas where there is industrial waste dumping, the dependence on tanker water too is becoming risky.
