The Women’s Wing of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) recently inaugurated the Women’s Facilitation Council – a helpdesk to guide women entrepreneurs with business-related information and assistance.

GCCI president Manoj Caculo inaugurated the council with director R S Kamat and other Women’s Wing committee members. The helpdesk operates from the GCCI office in Panaji.

It comprises a group of experienced women professionals including director of Women and Child Development Deepali Naik, CA/CS Swatee Rane, advocate Priyanka Kamat alias Shetiya,  community manager of the Forum for Innovation Incubation Research and Entrepreneurship Inseyah Ali, and chairperson of the GCCI Women’s Wing Pallavi Salgaocar, as core committee members. Melanie Rodriques is the co-ordinator from the chamber.

Women entrepreneurs in need of  guidance or assistance can contact the Chamber by email or post. Council members offer initial advice for free. For more detailed guidance the entrepreneurs are connected to suitable professionals to carry it forward. President Manoj Caculo said that the group has, over the years, worked for the betterment of women entrepreneurs and the council is a step forward this year.

Small and big entrepreneurs, including self-help groups, can approach the council with their problems and the core committee can give them timely advice, he added.

Chairperson of Women’s Wing Pallavi Salgaocar said, “The Women’s Wing has conducted workshops on skill development, financial and other business requirements, awareness sessions of statutory regulations and held enriching talks of inspiring speakers on their success stories. This year we plan to increase membership, to get more women entrepreneurs, big and small, from Goa actively involved, and more women across the state can avail of this new facility.”
