The force of football
Forca Goa Foundation managing director Jill Ferguson discusses plans to take Goan football to international levels
In a bid to boost to football in the state, FC Goa recently launched the Forca Goa Foundation which aims to empower the local community to be a force for sustainable development in Goa.
The NGO, named after the football club’s war cry meaning 'force of Goa’, provides grassroot training to children and uses football as a vehicle for development in the state.
The NGO revolves around three pillars - football, empowerment and sustainability. The sport has always been a uniting factor for Goans. The foundation uses this factor to empower the community, and bring about a positive change in Goa to co-create a sustainable future.
FC Goa launched the foundation ahead of the team’s last home game of the Indian Super League against Atlético Kolkata at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.
It was launched by co-owner of FC Foa and national cricket team captain Virat Kohli, club president and co-owner Akshay Tandon and managing director of the Forca Goa Foundation Jill Ferguson.
