Bank of India launches education initiative
Bank of India (BOI) recently launched a new corporate social responsibility initiative called Star Angel under the government’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan.
Through this, BOI will financially support the educational requirements of five economically weak girl students in each of its rural branches across the country. The initiative for Goa was inaugurated by managing director and CEO Dinabandhu Mohapatra at BOI’s Utorda branch.
All of BOI’s rural branches will identify five economically disadvantaged girl students in primary school, preferably in Class I, who will receive an annual scholarship of `1200.
The launch in Utorda was hosted by Goa zonal manager Prashant Naik and deputy zonal manager Subhash Phadate. The Varca and Colva branches also participated in the event, at which two girl students from each branch were awarded the scholarship.
