Sesa Football Academy’s Annanya Navin Agarwal unveils new plans to take the state sport to global levels

As a part of its commitment to serve the community, Vedanta Sesa Iron Ore established the Sesa Football Academy (SFA) in 1999, built on a reclaimed mine at Sankhali. The group now aims at bringing the facilities at its Sirsaim academy up to global standards.

It recently announced a grand plan to take football skills development to a new level. The academy introduced multi-national natural resource conglomerate Vedanta as partners in a strategic roadmap to develop budding
footballers from across the country.

It is a residential programme that strives to impart scientific training by focusing on developing potential and turning its students into professional football players.
VIVA GOA speaks to SFA president Annanya Navin Agarwal about the new plans to develop Goan football.

What is the Vedanta’s objective behind the Sesa Football Academy (SFA)?
Vedanta has always invested in the communities where we operate in various ways. One prime aspect of its sustainability initiatives in Goa has been the nurturing of football talent through the Sesa Football Academy.
Our group desires to take forward this strategic roadmap for supporting the development of the sport in India. We aim to create a hub of football talent that can produce players of global standards through this initiative.
