Tribal fashion with twist
Renowned Goa-based designer Verma Dmello, who is also an Election Icon of the Goa Election Commission, showcased her exquisite Kunbi collection at the recent Goa Vintage Car & Bike Festival 2019 at Inox courtyard in Panaji.
The collection is a tribute to the culture and lifestyle of the first inhabitants of Goa. The fabric chosen for the sequence – Kunbi – is Goa’s state fabric, created by the eponymous Goan tribe, a natural fabric with many medicinal values.
Through this collection Dmello aims to re-initiate the prominence and promote the Kunbi fabric. Her designs speak about the evolution of the tribe, the fabric and how it can be used for the current trends and styles for youth and those who love traditional wear. The collection was well-appreciated by the audience.
