Goa’s Vintage Bike & Car Festival 2016 saw some excellent wheels from the past at an event organised by Goa Tourism
There was a certain old world charm that spread itself over the Inox Courtyard where Goa’s Vintage Bike and Car Festival 2016 found itself, taking visitors by awe with vehicles from the past in excellent condition.
Organised by Goa Tourism and the Goa Tourism Development Corporation in Panaji, it saw record participation of 83 vintage cars and 40 vintage bikes which set the streets in a rally that made its way down memory lanes over two hours.
Spectators lined up along the route and cheered as the convoy of automobiles from 1921 to 1970 wound past.
Prizes were given in various categories (cars and bikes) to a 1946 Ford Jeep, 1965 Mercedes Benz, 1965 VFJ Jonga, 1964 Standard Herald, a 1965 BMW RSO, a 1921 Citroen, a 1942 Norton 16H, a 1961 FIAT 500 D, a 1965 Lambretta LI 150 series, a 1964 Standard Herald, a 1962 Jawa, a 1968 Volkswagon 1600 L, a 1952 Lambretta, a 1941 Ford Artillery Truck, a 1962 Escort Runabout, a 1959 Morris mini manor, and a 1958 BSA shooting star. The festival was attended automobile dealers, vintage car curators, media from leading automobile publications, key persons from the travel and tourism industry, and enthusiasts.
