FC Goa head coach Spaniard Sergio Lobera, who has been living in Goa for the last two years, opens up about the transition and what he loves about the state
Love for football is what made 42-year-old Sergio Lobera move to Goa with his pregnant wife.
He had a fruitful start to his coaching career as the manager of the FC Barcelona's C-team in the 2006–07 season, in Tercera División.
He joined FC Goa in June 2017 and in his second season of Indian Super League (ISL) in 2018, he led Goa to their second final against Bengaluru FC. Lobera renewed his link at Fatorda Stadium until 2020. Five months later, he led his team to the conquest of the Hero Super Cup.
Born in Zaragoza, Aragon in Spain, Lobera was a professional computer programmer, who also trained children in football until he got an opportunity to work with FC Barcelona.
