Singing Sensation

From their ancestral home in Tabravaddo, Saligao, the family, with six little ones, moved to Mumbai, regaling the neighbourhood with their Konkani songs each evening. Lorna is no stranger to fame today, but it was Goa’s jazz legend Chris Perry who helped her get there since the age of 15 when she sang for his band. Her most popular tracks include Pisso, Bebdo, Red Rose, Tuzo Mog and Noxibak Rodta, which are still played on the radio and at festivals and events today. Lorna took a sabbatical for 25 years before returning to the stage. Crowd-funded film Nachom-ia Kumpasar, released in December last year, chronicles her life and that of her ‘guru’ Chris Perry.
