Goa government honours Dr Salkar with Best Social Worker award
Goa’s Directorate of Social Welfare recently honoured Dr Shekhar Salkar him with the Best Social Worker award
The award was presented by speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Dr Pramod Sawant. Dr Shekhar Salkar has more than 25 years of experience in oncology surgery and is currently the head of Oncology at Manipal Hospital, Goa.
Dr Salkar, a fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS) in Oncology, is also chairman of the Goa Medical Council. Additionally, he holds leading positions in a number of associations in Goa, such as Indian Medical Association, Goa Cancer Society, etc.
He has attended some of the world’s top medical conferences, including the Breast Cancer Symposiums at St. Antonio, Texas and the World Cancer Congress, Washington, where he presented two papers.
Dr Shekhar Salkar, a resident of Bicholim, trained anganwadi workers towards reducing the risk of tobacco-related cancers. He is the chief author of a paper at Salgaoncar Medical & Research Centre, on ‘100 cases of gastroduodeuoscopy with H pylori infection’ and ‘Laparoscopic cholecsystectomy early review’ .
