Senior Chartered Accountant V B Prabhu Verlekar remembers Internationally renowned artist Vamona Navelcar following a recent publication of his select paintings & thoughts on art and creativity

Vamona Ananta Sinai Navelcar, born on May 05, 1930 in Goa is a world renowned artist who travelled and worked across three continents.

He is known for his versatility in artistic techniques and his continuous line drawings. He specialises in murals and bas-relief, composed of metallic, wooden and glass structures. He signs his works 'Ganesh' due to his devotion to the Hindu deity by that name and in memory of his deceased brother Ganesh who inspired him to paint in his early years.

Navelcar has received the Gulbenkian Fellowship twice and the International Award at the International Exhibition of Art in Monte Carlo for his ink drawing 'Angoch Woman'. The books on his life and works include: 'Vamona Navelcar – An Artist of Three Continents' authored by Anne Ketteringham and 'Goa / Portugal / Mozambique - The Many Lives Of Vamona Navelcar' edited by R Benedito Ferrao.
