Rajendra Talak on his experience handling the 47th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) as vice chariman of Entertainment Society of Goa
Film producer and director Rajendra Talak recently took charge as the vice chairman of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG).
He implemented many changes to the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) starting with making it a compact event of nine days instead of 11. He also has plans of going digital next year. Rajendra Talak speaks to VIVA GOA about the recently held IFFI.
As vice-chairman of ESG, what was your role at the recently held IFFI?
Though I took charge as vice chairman just 15 days before the commencement of IFFI, I have been working with the ESG for more than 10 years in three committees as a member, general body member and executive council member, so I took interest in all the activities, taking charge was only an exchange of seat, and some responsibilities of taking the decision.
It was easier because I was working in the committee and knew all the drawback and plus points. I had to only streamline it and make the functioning better. I also had my vision as to how IFFI should be, so I started implementing some part of it, as in 15 days you cannot change the whole thing though I had a lot of ideas.
Delegates said there was a positive energy about IFFI this time. This was possible because all the systems were in place. Everything was on time – delegate registration, delivering IFFI kits – there were more counters, the IT team was in place, everything was conducted smoothly.
