Ravisha Kudchadkar
Budding essayist
Ravisha Kudchadkar became a household name after prime minister Narendra Modi tweeted that the young Goan girl had won the national essay competition on Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan.
He wrote, “In her prize-winning essay, Ravisha from Goa writes about what should be done for Swachch Bharat. I compliment her for her work”. The tweet was liked by over 5,000 people. The 14 year-old student of Class 9 at Fatima Convent High School, Margao, wrote of her perceptions about Swachch Bharat and how it should be taken seriously by all.
She speaks to Viva Goa about her Swachch Bharat plans.
Winning the national essay competition…
Made me very happy, more so because it attracted the attention of the prime minister. I didn’t not expect to win as it was all India competition.
The winning piece…
Was written with just half a day of preparation. I have represented my school in many elocution competitions, so the topic was very easy for me to write about. I discussed and argued many topics at home with my parents and brother.
