Rebecca de Souza
Child musician
Seven-year-old Rebecca from Sharada Mandir School released her first music album ‘Wonderfully Made’ at the age of six. Trained by her grandmother Daphne Sequeira, a soprano and music trainer, Rebecca started singing at a very young age. Her first performance in front of 800 people was at the age of five. Her passion for singing inspires young children to follow their dreams!
The young singer speaks to VIVA GOA about her love for music
I began singing…
When my grandma trained me when I was very small. We would have singing sessions or listen to fun songs together. She would take me for the choir practices she conducted at Don Bosco Shrine. She also had students who came to her for voice training and I would happily sit during her classes.
My mother taught me the songs that she composed for my album. We would practice in the car or sometimes I would take her mobile and sing along on my own. For her first album I loved to tag along when she recorded at the studio so I was even more excited to record my own album.
