IIA, Goa hosts photo contest at Interiors & Exteriors Expo
An architectural photography competition and exhibition on ‘Water & Architecture’ and an architects’ gallery was inaugurated by minister for Town & Country Planning and Agriculture Vijai Sardessai and chairman of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Goa Chapter Manguesh Prabhugaonker at the recent Interiors & Exteriors exhibition at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Bambolim.
The IIA – Goa pavilion featured a photo gallery with prize-winning entries and shortlisted pictures of the competition. The photography competition was conceptualised by an IIA team led by architects Arvind Dsouza, Golda Pereira, Rhea Judith D’Souza, Anup Gadgil, Ezra D’Souza, Rahul Sardessai, Manguesh Prabhugaonker and Jason Santos.
The competition saw entries from across Asia. Prabhugaonker said, “The Indian Institute of Architects Goa has had a long association of 20 years with Goa’s biggest and only trade exhibition Interiors and Exteriors. IIA is greatly indebted to organisers Media Promotions Pvt Ltd for making our association meaningful to the industry of Goa and the surrounding region. IIA Goa assures the organisers all the support to make our association grow stronger and bigger in the time to come.”
Winners received cash prizes sponsored by Bharat Flooring and certificates from the chief guest, chief engineer of Water Resources department Sandeep Nadkarni, and guests of honour IIA Goa chairman Manguesh R Prabhugaonker, Jawahar of Bharat Flooring, Orty Soares, Datta Kamat, Sacheen Pai Raikar, Tulio De Sousa, Vidhya Mandhana Tapadia and Bryan Soares, were present.
The photography competition featured two categories: Open Age and Below 16 years.
Winners of the Open Category were Devraj R Parab Gaonkar (1st place), Saneh Surya Phadte and Andrea Lobo (2nd place) and Vaishnavi Jayant Thomre and Sonali Singnapurkar (3rd place). The winner of the Below 16 Category was Akshay Naik.
