Not Your Average Music Festival
By Dielle DSouza on December 21, 2017
TimeOut 72 at Vagator north Goa promises the full smorgasbord of talent and music, hitting a new high with global megastars Jason Derulo, Wiz Khalifa and Martin Garrix as headliners. VIVA GOA uncovers the exciting plans awaiting fans at this multi-genre music festival
It sure takes courage to step into a zone others saw as futile. Barely 24 months after two of Goa’s biggest annual dance music festivals left its shores to settle elsewhere, a trio discovered a niggling urge to reinvent music festivals in the state.
And they decided to go big. Real big. Vagator cliff will be privy to names known in the smallest towns halfway across the world where residents may have never even heard of Goa. Jason Derulo, Wiz Khalifa and Martin Garrix represent the most widely consumed music genres in the world today – R&B and hip hop, rap and electronic dance music (EDM), and they are heading our way.
Together, their Twitter followers itself exceed 45 million worldwide and with this, TimeOut 72, Goa’s newest music festival, raises the curtains on a whole new world of events. From December 27-29 this year, it promises a galaxy of artists and entertainers, across a multiplicity of genres.
The event came together through the passion of three friends Aayush Mehta, Argha Chatterjee and Vaishal Shah aiming to create a new category in the scene. They collaborated with global dance music giant Don’t Let Daddy Know that has worked with bigwigs from Tiësto to Steve Aoki to give festival-goers an unusual musical experience.
TimeOut 72 is conceptualised and produced by the trio through Waterlemon Events and Sudarshan Entertainment World which have spilled over from real estate and film production into event management.
Event co-founder Argha Chatterjee describes the festival as a “heady concoction of Coachella, where the biggest stars perform; Ultra, where the music never seems to cease; and Tomorrowland, for an unforgettable rave experience”.
India’s Bollywood brigade is reportedly unwilling to miss this mind-blowing festival and sources have suggested that actors Priyanka Chopra, Jacqueline Fernandez and even megastar Salman Khan could be spotted at Vagator. The organisers are keen for the main headliners to be met with a warm welcoming party and these celebs are sure to be a treat.
TimeOut 72 promises to put music centrestage and the multi-genre event seeks to satisfy with something for everyone. Across three stages – Majoris, Eximius and Proximius, more than 50 artists will keep feet moving with their best tunes over three days.
