National football team head coach Igor Stimac opens up about his love for Goa and the sport in an exclusive interview
Former professional footballer and current head coach of the Indian national team, 52-year-old Igor Stimac has set his eyes on his goal for the team: this year’s Asian Cup and the qualifiers of World Cup 2026.
Stimac, who represented Croatia in the World Cup in 1998, brings a fresh perspective to the team. He strongly believes that the team needs to adopt a winning mentality and is focused on doing that.

VIVA GOA speaks to Igor Stimac about the national team’s progress, his strategies, the ongoing Hero Indian Super League (ISL) and his special inclination towards Goa.
