A Successful Exposition
The Government of Goa provided and maintained excellent facilities for pilgrims and visitors to the recent Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier in Old Goa
The 17th public Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier in Old Goa was the perfect manifestation of the communal harmony and secularism that Goa fosters, with new state-of-the-art facilities that made it a pleasant experience for pilgrims and tourists alike.
Across 45 days of the Exposition, the meticulous planning of months before held fast, turning Old Goa into “a city as good as any foremost international destination of religious importance”, according to a number of European religious scholars. The Government of Goa immersed itself in catering to the comfort of the pilgrims by upgrading infrastructure, providing amenities and offering assistance to the church of Goa whenever required.
Between November 22 and January 04, as many as 38 lakh pilgrims venerated the sacred relics, with the highest number recorded on November 30, 2014 at 3.21 lakhs.
