The VARANDA do MAR overlooks the cosy little cove that is Miramar beach, warming you with its hospitality, seducing you with its view and tantalising you with its cuisine

As hotels go, north Goa has plenty, but there are strangely few in the capital city that really stand out. Hotels need the right ingredients to work successfully, and with the scarcity of decently located property available in the city, it’s hard to make things click.

But right on the sea-front, overlooking the beautiful little bay Panjim has been blessed with, is a new entrant into the scene. Launched earlier this year, the Varanda do Mar is almost between a business hotel and a city escape.

Perched on a curve of a broad road leading right to Miramar beach, the hotel provides beautiful views, quiet spaces and reasonable access to anything you think you might ever need during your time to wind down.

THE ACCOMMODATION
The designers of the Varanda do Mar took the best advantage of the pretty view of the Arabian Sea. They played on it and you now have cosy rooms with expansive balconies where you can sit out and enjoy a leisurely drink.
The views are impressive at any time of the year, in summer when you can enjoy an extended sunset, during the monsoons when you can see the storms whip up a fury and revel in Mother Nature’s beauteous wrath, and during the cool months, when you can enjoy slightly misty mornings and a light nip with a large coffee mug in your hands.

All rooms offer a view of the sea, but choosing the Deluxe Room will get you an unobstructed vista of the bay and the beach below.

DINING
The Varanda do Mar has tied up with the Delhi Darbar Goa, one of the state’s most revered restaurants when it comes to Mughlai cuisine.

Owned by the Nayyar brothers, the new outlet continues to tantalise taste buds with a variety of seafood, kebabs and vegetarian fare.
