Avi’s Opticians: one-stop shop for all your eyewear needs

Avi’s Opticians is Margao’s go-to place for all eyewear products and services for over two years. The store offers a wide range of sunglasses, spectacles and lenses in various local and international brands.

The first store was set up in 1999 at Curchorem followed by the one in Margao in 2016. The family’s second generation entrepreneur Ashwin D’Souza, said, “It was started by my mother in the name of my sister Avila. Over a generation it has turned into a family business.” For customers with complaints of foggy glasses, Avi’s provides anti-fog lenses. They also offer transition lenses that render 100% UV protection. D’Souza, who has a Bachelors & Masters degree in Optometry said, “We cater to customers of all ages and by default as a practice we provide anti-reflective lenses that assure more clarity.” 

After a comprehensive eye testing in the examination room, D’Souza, the full-time Optometrist at Avi’s, will advise on suitable primary eye care and optical aids to treat eye ailments. The store houses international brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste, Levis, Oakley, Steppers, Vogue for frames, Ray Ban, Carrera, Pierre Cardin, Polaroid, Opium, Provougue and Fossil among others.

Their luxury brand collections include Nina Ricci, Furla, Etnia Barcelona. 

In 2015, Avi’s launched an in-house brand ‘Benjamin Maryani’ named after D’Souza’s grandparents. Speaking about the brands, he said, “We wanted to introduce an affordable brand that offered products with an elegant finish.
