Bhate wins Business Diva crown for agrowaste work
For her work in re-purposing agrowaste, the Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industries (GCCI) Women’s Wing recently named Mayuri Bhate of EcoTopia Earth N You as the winner of its first Business Diva competition.
The contest recognised women with innovative businesses or start-up ideas in collaboration with FiiRE and powered by Geno Foundation.
Nivedita Walke of Thread Architecture won second place for her lace and knitting handicrafts while Sinami Shetye of Hy Femme sanitary napkins, Priyanka Row of Brunch Bites and Priyanka Raiker of Miracle Clinic were runners up. The other top 10 finalists were Gautami Raiker (Legal Capsule), Vaishnavi Kamat (paper from nut shell), Nisha Gad (digital HR empowerment), Sweta Chari & Mansi Govekar (Tarang – Empowering Women), and Sunaya Shirodker (ASIER DIY educational Robokits).
The chief guest was Dempo Industries director Pallavi Dempo. Guests of honour were GCCI president and chairman of Caculo Group of Industries Manoj Caculo & director of Human Resources (Medical and Administration) at Geno Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd Dr Pramod Salgaocar.
GCCI Women’s Wing chairperson & owner of Desserts N More Pallavi Salgaocar said the aim of the competition was to encourage women to become entrepreneurs.
It was conducted over a two-month period during which 46 applicants were screened and trained. Ten finalists presented their business plans to a panel of judges that included Mridula Goel from BITS Pilani, Goa; founder & incubator Jyothi Iyer; businesswoman Varsha Pai Raikar and founder of Tatva Spa Asha Arondekar.
