Union Minister for Tourism releases novelist Ira Trivedi’s book ‘India in Love’
The Union Minister of State for Tourism & Culture (Independent Charge) Shripad Naik released a book ‘India in Love’, written by Ira Trivedi. Speaking during the release, Naik said, “I am happy to launch the book written by Ira Trivedi which deals with various social issues faced by Indian women in marriages in India. I am told that she has travelled the length and breadth of this country and interviewed more than 500 people to produce a book like this. The author has gone deep into one of the most enduring institutions of Indian society i.e. marriage and how it is faring in modern times.”
Trivedi spoke about her experiences with writing the book and how the institute of marriage has evolved in modern India. She also spoke about the various challenges faced by women in the country, both within the family and within society.
Naik had earlier inaugurated the second day of the Goa Writers and Readers Festival, Goa 2014, which was held at Kala Academy, Panaji. He said, “I am very happy to be here at this annual gathering of distinguished poets, prose writers, dramatists, philosophers, historians, play writers and essayists from India and across the world under one umbrella at Kala Academy. I am happy to note that writers who have won honours like the Bookers prize, Sahitya Academy Award, Jnanpith Award and Commonwealth Award in addition to those who have won top most literary awards in their countries are participating in this event.”
He added, “As the tourist season opens up in Goa, it is the most opportune time for the International Writers and Readers Festival 2014 to complement it. Goa has always been an inspiration for writers and I recollect and salute the eminent Goan father and son writers i.e. Frank Moraes and Dom Moraes.”
