Happy 60th Birthday MANOHAR
Over the years, Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has shown grace and wisdom in his leadership. On his 60th milestone birthday, close friend and Advocate General of Goa Atmaram Nadkarni wishes him luck and happiness for the future
Turning 60 is certainly a remarkable milestone. Manohar Parrikar also recently became a grandfather and despite his busy schedule in New Delhi handling the country’s defence, I know he is always eager to come back to Goa particularly to meet the little angel Dhruv, his grandson. This only shows the love, affection and attachment he has for his family. Indeed, all grandfathers would have the same kind of attachment, but may not be as busy.
Even a bitter critic of Manohar Parrikar would agree that he has brilliance and the ability to deal with situations. Having worked very closely with him, seeing him discharge his day-to-day duties and observing his administrative skills and abilities, one has to make a special mention of the way in which he managed the state’s affairs between March 2012 and March 2014 when there was a complete ban on mining, and 36 per cent of Goa’s revenue was lost. In addition, there was a hostile central government which virtually decided to starve the state government of its rightfully due funding.
