The Grand Mercure opens its doors!

Smita and Nitan Chhatwal recently had a double celebration: coinciding with their 25th wedding anniversary celebration, they held a soft launch of their marquee five-star hotel Grand Mercure Goa Shrem Resort at Candolim. The couple’s friends and family were flown in from across the country. The highlight of the evening was the famed Bollywood composer and singer duo, Vishal–Shekhar who dazzled the audience.

Nitin Chhatwal, Managing Director of the Shrem Group which also owns Novotel Goa Shrem Resort, said, “The association with Accor has been the key to the successful launch and operations of both our resorts in Goa. Shrem Group’s vision is to create value in the business of hospitality, real estate, mining and IT.”

Present for the occasion was senior Vice President Operations – Accor India Jean Michel Casse who said, “Accor has 30 hotels in India and we believe the Indian market is becoming very strong for us. What we were missing in this network was ‘leisure hotels’, and now that we are present in the major cities, we are heading towards the leisure destinations, and so we definitely couldn’t avoid Goa. We’re expanding the network, thanks to this great partnership with the Shrem Group. We are happy to be associated with them and convey our best wishes on this joyous occasion.”
