An avid cyclist since childhood, Knerav Kodolikar is creating a mark by being the youngest cyclist to attain the maximum cut out time in the state. Presently studying in class 11 at Manovikas English high school, Margao, Knerav was the youngest cyclist in Goa to finish a 600 km ride at the age of 17. The Margao youngster discusses his dreams on wheels…

I started cycling…
At four years, when I was given a cycle by my parents. Back then, I was the youngest to cycle in the neighborhood and had no company with me. Neighbours would constantly ask my mother: “How could you let such a small child cycle alone?” My only aim at that time was to try to keep up with the bigger kids.
When I was around 15, the distance that I was allowed to cycle increased considerably, so my friends and I
would explore new places in Margao during our free time. When my dad’s friend heard about my interest, he asked me if I would like to join the local club Propedallerz.

I was shocked hearing the distances they cover every Sunday, but nevertheless I agreed. My first ride was from Margao to Quepem and back via Chandor, about 30 kilometers, after which I was completely fatigued, but it was after this ride that I started developing myself to get better at this sport.
