Despite a lack of support from the government, Director of the Centre for Environment and Natural Resource Management DR SANGEETA SONAK continues to work towards preserving Goa’s ecology in a way that supports both development and environment

As the Director of the Centre for Environment and Natural Resource Management, she heads a team of researchers that study Goa’s environment and local eco-systems, providing a wealth of knowledge for the government, non-government organisations, students, environmentalists and others. She has earlier worked with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Goa Medical College, Goa College of Home Science and the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO). Dr Sonak has led a number of environment-related studies and advised the government on a variety of similar issues. She has also guided research teams, organised and attended workshops and conferences, and has a number of scientific publications and books to her name.
Recognised by many organizations, national and international, Dr Sonak is an inspiration to all. She discusses her work and life with VIVA GOA
