National Fire Services Day commemorated with marathon

The directorate of Fire & Emergency Services in association with Vasco Sports Club commemorated National Fire Service Day with the second edition of the Goa Fire Run during Fire Prevention Week.


More than 1,000 people from different states including Karnataka, Kerala, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Rajasthan, Andra Pradesh and Maharashtra participated in the run. There were three main categories – 21km, 10km and 5km. The run was organised to pay homage to India’s firemen martyrs. Cash awards, medals and certificates were awarded to the winners and participants.

Every runner was given a T-shirt with a chip, while timings mats were placed to record the participants’ speed.

Conditioned runners who participated included: Naveen Patil, Rajeev Kumar, Raghavendra RC, Meghana, Ankita Palekar and Rajashri Tarihal in the half marathon.

Rashmiranjan Panda, Asvender, Harish Baradwaj, Nisha Madgavkar, Tejalben Bhoya and Milita Lopes participated in the 10km run.
